Seyal Phulka/ Sahelmani Recipe

Seyal Phulka is a popular Sindhi breakfast and also a popular and easy way to make use of leftover rotis (or phulkas or chapatis or even bread).

  • 6-8 Lefftover Chapati
  • 2 Large Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1 Large Tomato, Chopped
  • 2 Green Chilies, Finely Chopped
  • 1 Tsp. Ginger, Grated
  • 1 Tbsp. Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp. Cumin seeds
  • Salt to Taste
  • Red Chili To Taste
  • 1/2 Tsp. Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp. Amchoor Powder


  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds. 

  2. When they start crackle, add onion, ginger and chili and saute 2 minute. 

  3. Add tomato and spices and cook for 2-3 minutes. 

  4. Add coriander leaves and 1 tsp. of lemon juice and mix well. Keep aside to cool.

  5. Take a roti and spread the stuffing in half portion and fold it. 

  6. Spread again stuffing in half portion and fold it into 1/4 shape like triangle. 

  7. Heat the tawa and cook the stuffed roti till to crisp and golden on both sides using little oil. 

  8. Serve along with cup of tea or coffee.
