Chana dal vadai or masala dal vada recipe made with chana dal, poha and spices which makes this snack tastier or crunchy.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Chana Dal/ Bengal Gram Soaked
  • 1 /2 Cup Poha/ Flattened Rice Washed
  • 1/2 Cup Onion Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Roasted Peanuts Crushed
  • 2 Green Chilies Finely Chopped
  • 1 Tsp. Ginger Finely Chopped
  • Handful Coriander Leaves Finely Chopped
  • Salt to Taste
  • Chaat Masala to Taste
  • Red Chili to Taste
  • 1 Tsp. Cumin Seeds/ Jeera
  • Oil for Frying

Instructions
 

  • Wash and Soak the Chana dal in water for 3-4 hours.
  • Wash the poha also in water twice a time.
  • Drain the excess water and grind the dal with poha in a mixer till Coarse batter. (Add 1-2 Tbsp Water if required)
  • Now Add this Mixture into a separate mixing bowl. Add chopped onion, peanuts,green chili, ginger, coriander, jeera, salt, chaat masala, red chili powder and 1 tbsp. oil. Mix it very well.
  • Now make small sized flat vadai or cutlet shaped.
  • Heat oil for deep frying on medium flame. Add vada one by one and deep fry till golden brown. Drain them on a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil.
  • Serve hot chana dal vadai with chutney and hot tea.
