Wash and soak the chana dal for 3-4 hours. After that, drain all the water.
In a mixer, add soaked chana dal and grind it into a slightly coarse paste without adding water.
Heat the desi ghee or clarifying butter in a pan or kadai. Take small portions of grinded dal and add them one by one in the hot ghee. Fry them until it is cooked well.
Once cooled well, add fried daal into mixy and grind it coarsely.
Add sugar and water in separate pan and boil the sugar syrup into one string consistency.
Add color and cardamom powder and mix well.
Add grinded daal powder and mix well. Cover and allow to cool for a few minutes.
Grease palm with ghee and take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into ladoo or modak using mould.
Now tasty laddo or modak is ready for Ganesh Chaturthi.
