MotiChoor Laddu without Boondi (Modak)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Chana Dal / Bengal Gram
  • Desi Ghee for Frying
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • Few Dry Nuts Optional
  • 1 Tsp. Cardamom Powder
  • Yellow Colour Few drops

Instructions
 

  • Wash and soak the chana dal for 3-4 hours. After that, drain all the water.
  • In a mixer, add soaked chana dal and grind it into a slightly coarse paste without adding water.
  • Heat the desi ghee or clarifying butter in a pan or kadai. Take small portions of grinded dal and add them one by one in the hot ghee. Fry them until it is cooked well.
  • Once cooled well, add fried daal into mixy and grind it coarsely.
  • Add sugar and water in separate pan and boil the sugar syrup into one string consistency.
  • Add color and cardamom powder and mix well.
  • Add grinded daal powder and mix well. Cover and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  • Grease palm with ghee and take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into ladoo or modak using mould.
  • Now tasty laddo or modak is ready for Ganesh Chaturthi.
