Title: Good Indian Restaurants in
London Offer Great Food without Any Fuss

There has been a quiet revolution
going on in London for some time now. Whereas back in the day the title of best
Indian restaurant in London went to whichever curry house was most accommodating
at three o’clock in the morning – these days you’ll find genuinely good Indian restaurants
in London, offering fine dining or brasserie style food in a variety of central
and prestigious locations.
But here’s the thing about the
(relatively – it’s actually been around for at least 10 years) new breed of
London Indian restaurant. While the dining itself is of an extremely high order
– fine in the true definition of the word – the restaurant itself is not fussy,
nor yet does it require much in the way of a dress code. This is fine dining
Indian style – sumptuous surrounding, glorious food and attentive service,
without any of the pretence that can go along with fine dining form other
cuisines.
The best Indian restaurant in
London, these days, is an even more subjective title than it used to be. Now
you have your pick of no-fuss atmospheres. With each location serving great
food with its own regional or creative twist. Some of the high end fine dining establishments,
for example, take the cuisine of India as a starting point and create memorable
dishes entirely their own. While other really good Indian restaurants in London
begin by selecting the cuisine of a specific area, and then simply cook it
really, really well – served impeccably and cooked to perfection.
One thing you will notice, when you
attend a really wonderful London Indian restaurant – there are lots of Indian families
in there, from the smallest child to the oldest founding member, all enjoying a
meal together. Manners are of course impeccable – but the fact remains, even
the highest of dining experiences in the best Indian restaurant in London is
still tempered by the realization that this is real food, for real families,
cooked and served so well that it brings devotees from all over town.
Indian culture places great
importance on food and feasting – in the right place, at the right time and
with the right people. This shows clearly in the really good Indian restaurants
in London – where a meal is an event, served with the minimum of fuss by the
maximum of enjoyment.
This is common to cultures where
eating is routinely important – the event and the quality of the food speak for
themselves, so no extra fuss is required. The chances of being able to eat in a
relaxed fashion, socializing freely, are much higher in the best Indian
restaurant in London than they are in, say, the restaurant with the most
Michelin stars – where a certain pretentiousness gets in the way of simple
enjoyment of the food.
There are so many different
candidates for the title of the best Indian restaurant in London that it is
almost impossible to talk properly about the subject. One thing remains common
though – excellent food and the minimum of fuss.
