Chocolate Coconut Sondesh | Sondesh Recipe | Bengali Sandesh recipe

Chocolate sondesh or chocolate coconut Sandesh is a Bengali sweet recipe which is perfect for any festivals or serves as dessert after any meal. I love Bengali mithais or sweets such as shondesh, kancha gola, rasmalai, rasgulla, misti doi and more. All these recipes and milk or chenna based.

Sandesh is a dessert, originating from the Bengal region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, created with milk and sugar. Some recipes of Sandesh call for the use of chhena or paneer (which is made by curdling the milk and separating the whey from it) instead of milk itself.

Some people in the region of Dhaka make a form of sandesh called pranahara which is softer and made with mawa and yogurt.

There are many variations to the basic sandesh recipe in terms of flavors and texture, and is beautifully decorated into different shapes and sizes. I love the versatility of sandesh which are available in market, but popular variation is chocolate sandesh. If you are looking for kid’s party, then you should go with chocolate sandesh recipe.

For this chocolate sandesh recipe you have to prepare chenna first by curdling the milk and separating the whey from it. Then you have to mix the flavours with chenna and mould it into different shapes or sizes. I added cocoa powder and coconut powder for the better flavor and texture. You can add Nutella too for more chocolatey flavor, and coconut powder is optional. (As kid’s choice)

I love the chocolate flavor in there. With the coconut, it would be an amazing dimension to the sondesh…

I have eaten only simple chenna in my life time but adding paneer and cocoa powder would really made its taste even better. The recipe itself is very handy it would be great experience to make it. But making it would take some effort, however can you post more recipe related to these additional ingredients added to simple sweets and also how long can you keep it without getting is bad?
