Every regions has own street food which available at roadsides. Locals and Travelers foodies love that taste and aroma of dishes which are available at local shops.
This time I shared street food from Varanasi that is amazing in taste and so vibrant in color. One of the most popular street food snack is Fried Matar Chaat or Stir Fried Green Peas Chaat which served in green leaves cups.
Varanasi is very famous place of India for holiest most sacred cities in all of India. This dish is very easy and simple to make. To prepare this dish at we need only few ingredients are green peas, onion, tomatoes, lemon juice and spices but you can add some more ingredients like cucumber, boiled potatoes as per taste or preference. Today I shared authentic taste and method of Fried matar chaat which available in Varanasi.
Just frying them in oil until they are cooked with little crunchy texture after partially boiled. Now combine the fried matar with chopped onion, tomatoes and green chilies in bow, seasons them with masala and dash of lemon juice and ready to serve. This dish is quite simple to make but extremely delicious in taste. You can adjust the spice level as per your tastebuds.

What we needed to cook Fried Matar Chaat:
2 Cups Green Peas
1/2 Cup Onion Chopped
1/2 Cup Tomatoes, Chopped
2 Green Chilies, Chopped
Handful Green Coriander, Chopped
Salt to Taste
Chaat Masala to Taste
Red Chili Powder to Taste
Black Pepper Powder to Taste
1/2 Tsp. Roasted Cumin Powder
1/4 Cup Oil
Lemon Juice to Taste
How to Cook Fried Green Peas Chaat at home, here is directions:
Wash and cook the green peas in pressure cooker till to semi tender. Now drain the excess water and keep aside. Heat the oil in a pan, when oil is hot enough add boiled peas and fried them for few minutes. Add salt, red chili powder, black pepper and mix well. Now transfer the fried peas into mixing bowl. Add chopped onion, coriander, tomatoes, green chilies, chaat masala and cumin powder. Squeeze the lemon and mix it gently. Serve immediately.

Ingredients
- 2 Cups Green Peas
- 1/2 Cup Onion Chopped
- 1/2 Cup Tomatoes Chopped

- 3 Tbsps. Oil
- 1/2 Tsp. Roasted Cumin Powder
Instructions

- Add salt, red chili powder, black pepper and mix well. Now transfer the fried peas into mixing bowl.

Green peas chaat sounds wonderful, Preeti. We usually make with the dried peas. I need to give this a try.
