Palak thepla is a healthy preparation of the Gujarati Indian flatbread recipe. Palak is a rich source of iron, several vital antioxidants and anti-cancer composition which provide powder packed healthy texture to the theplas. It is made with spinach, wheat flour, gram flour, curd and spices.
Thepla is a popular Gujrati recipe which loved by everyone and good option as travelling food. You can enjoy these theplas with cup of tea or masala curd and pickle. You can try this thepla recipe at home with lots of other variations by adding methi, palak, bathua and more green leafy vegetables.
To make this recipe, I added chopped spinach in dough. Instead of that you can add puree of spinach too. These soft and super easy recipe of Gujarati theplas are a staple food for any day or any time in Indian homes.
What is the difference between thepla and paratha?
The difference between thepla and paratha is the method of making, Thepla is made with dough made up of fenugreek or spinach, flours, spices, and other flavours whereas for parathas is made with dough and stuffed with different mixture. Thepla is rolled very thin and parathas are little thicker because of stuffing.
Is thepla good for weight loss?
Can diabetics, heart patients and overweight individuals have thepla? Yes, this recipe is good for diabetics, heart, and weight loss. Whole wheat flour is excellent for diabetics as they will not shoot up your blood sugar levels as they are a low GI food.

Palak Thepla | Spinach Thepla – Gujarati Recipe
Instructions
2 Cups Wheat Flour
1/4Cup Besan / Gram Flour
1 Cup Spinach, Grated
Salt to Taste
1 Tsp. Turmeric Powder
1/4 Cup Curd
1 Tbsp. Oil
Ghee for Cooking
How to Make Palak Thepla:
Wash and chop the palak and keep aside.
Combine all ingredients together in large bowl and mix well.
Add little water and knead smooth dough, cover, and keep aside to set for 15 minutes.
Now divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll it into thin roti form using rolling pin.
Heat the tawa and cook the theplas with little ghee/oil from the both sides until to golden and evenly cooked.
Serve palak thepla with sabzi or curd.
