Chaat is a savoury snack that originated in India, It’s a group of foods without limits. The rich culinary diversity of India has led to the creation of a plethora of chaat dishes inspired by its various regions.

Chaat is a combination of sweet, savoury, crunchy, spicy and salty taste. There are common elements among these variants including dahi, chopped onion, coriander, sev, chutneys.

What do we need for Makhana Chaat?

2 Cups Foxnuts (Makhana)

2 Tbsps. Desi Ghee (Clarified Butter)

2 Cups Curd, Whisked

2 Tbsps. Sugar (Powdered)

Green Chutney (As required)

Tamarind Chutney (As Required)

Pomegranate Seeds 

Black Salt (As taste)

Roasted Jeera Powder (as required)

Red Chili Powder (As Required)

Chaat Masala (As Required)

Sev (Garnishing)

Fresh Coriander, Chopped (Garnishing)

Nuts (Cashew, Raisins) (Garnishing)

 

How to Prepare Makhana Chaat?

Heat a pan on medium flame, add makhana and roast them with ghee for 8-10 minutes till crisp.

Mix the curd and sugar together and whisk well, add roasted makhana and mix well. 

Now transfer the required proportion of makhana to the serving plate and add green chutney and tamarind chutney as per taste. 

Sprinkle black salt, red chili powder, roasted jeera powder, chaat masala, pomegranate, sev and green coriander. 

Add cashew and raisins on the top and enjoy the goodness of makhana chaat.
